	INHACA LODGE ISLAND RESORT
	General Info
	INHACA ISLAND - MOZAMBIQUE ... Lies 35 km directly off Maputo, is about 7 km long, has a particularly good rock-and-surf fishing area at the southern point, (Santa Maria/Hell's Gate) where Inhaca is separated from the mainland only by a 400 metre wide channel. This is far from the Hotel, which means you must go by LandRover or boat, which can (usually) be safely beached on the inside edge of Santa Maria, close to the surf-casting area. It is in any case a good idea to have a boat as the channel separating Inhaca from the mainland at this point can't be properly fished from the shore. There is no fishing in front of the hotel, as the water is too shallow, but Portuguese Island, which lies some 500 metres directly off the hotel, has some good surfcasting. The hotel chalets are situated amongst the coconut palms in a serene, tropical setting with rustic interior, two single beds that are made up together for doubles and bathrooms en-suite with hot and cold running water. Family rooms also have double bunk beds for children. The hotel has a salt water pool and a safe, shallow beach (but don’t leave valuables lying around!)
	Fishing
	INHACA FISHING & DIVING Six-metre ski boats with twin 85 hp Yamahas. They also have lighter six-metre W20 boats with 40 hp engines, which handle inshore waters very well and are ideal for light tackle and fly-fishing. Please conatct us for updated rates on the boating fleet available at Pestana Inhaca Lodge. Maputo Bay is shallow and can be too rough for the 35 km boat t’fer between Maputo and Inhaca. A better option is the 15 minute flight Maputo/Inhaca, where the boats are based. The skippers of these boats have more knowledge of these fishing waters than any other operator.
	Accomodation
	INHACA PRICES: The standard room rates start at US$130 PP sharing per night, includes dinner and breakfast daily, tea and coffee with bottled waters in the rooms. Also included is the daily boat transfers across to Portuguese Island - which makes for a delightful "swimming beach" since the beach in front of the hotel is not ideal for swimming.
	Season
	Inhaca fishes well all year round. It has a climate very similar to South Africa's Natal North Coast.
	How to get there
	SAA or LAM have daily one hour flights to Maputo from Jhb (R1150.00 ppr excl. taxes R1680). Once in Maputo you will get the Transairways or CFA ten minute flight to Inhaca Island (from R580.00 - R1000 PP). Once on the island, you will be transferred by landrover or tracktor to the lodge.
	Other activities
	Inhaca is an underestimated dive destination, with big fish and interesting wrecks. Dive packages are arranged (Weight belt & air inc, other gear on hire.) Also available are snorkelling trips, water skiing, jet skis, Para sailing, tours to Portuguese island and Santa Maria (Hell’s Gate), LandRover rides to the lighthouse and/or Maritime museum, salt water swimming pool, tennis court and conference lounge. Most good beaches/snorkelling/fishing are too far to walk; you need use of a boat to get the best out of Inhaca. Please contact us to send you the excursions price lists.
	Length of stay
	The great thing about Inhaca being a mere 40km's off the mainland of Maputo, is that you may enjoy a long weekend at Inhaca. We would not recommend more than a week. Over peak periods, a minimum stay of 5 x nights is required.
	Capacity
	The lodge has forty chalets and can sleep up to eighty adults.
	Docs required
	Visas are no longer required on South African passports. Internationals may obtain their visas on arrival in Maputo at a fee of approx US$29.00 pp.
	Rates
	A typical 7 x night package would be approximately R8, 900.00 PP Sharing - includes return flights from O.R. Tambo to Maputo; return domestic flights from Maputo to Inhaca; 7 x nights accommodation on a half board basis.
